The foundation for successful home care is based on relationship. The client and family need to have a level of comfort with the caregiver that inspires trust and confidence. Taking a specific inventory of patient needs and requests, and knowing our staff's skills, strengths and personality types, allows us to match the client with the caregiver who will be best suited for the particular case.
Prior to the start of care, as we consider the assignment of caregiver to case, we establish clear expectations of clients and families and take careful inventory of criteria that will ensure a successful working relationship.
If there are concerns raised by the client or family regarding a particular caregiver, our intervention is to seek specific information with which to improve the situation. We will endeavor to modify the caregiver's approach and style if need be, clarify duties and expectations and support the caregiver's adaptation to more successfully meet the needs of the client and family.
Occasionally there is a personality clash that cannot be resolved. When this is the case, we simply make a change of caregiver, taking into particular consideration what caused the original placement to be unsuccessful and strategizing with client and family to select a new caregiver who will more fully meet the needs we have identified.
Home care agencies are one of the largest growing industries in today's market.
The aging population and epidemic incidences of dementia types of impairments have created an enormous demand for in home services. 'Big business' has seized this opportunity.
Countless franchise home care companies advertise 'locally owned and operated' as part of their marketing strategy. In actuality, these home care agencies are owned similarly to retail or food outlet franchise businesses.
Part of their marketing package, is belonging to 'a national leader in home care'. We don't believe that bigger is necessarily better.
Aberdeen Home Care differs considerably from these franchise agencies. All plans of care, hiring, supervision, all decisions that dictate the operations of the company are made with patient wellbeing at the center of every decision by the Registered Nurse owner of the company. We are not influenced by any outside governance or board and are independent in all our decision making, allowing us to remain true to our objective: provision of superior quality home care.
We are health care professionals in your community. We have worked in a wide variety of local and specialty hospitals and home care settings from Visiting Nurses to Hospice, from private inpatient settings to agencies within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We have vast experience and community associations to put to work on your behalf and to assure that you are in the best possible hands, for the best possible outcomes.
We handle this issue on a case by case basis, paying careful attention to the particular needs of the client and to whether family back-up is available. If the client is dependent on our services to remain safely at home, a substitute caregiver is put in place. Other clients who are more independent and may have family as a back-up option may choose to reschedule care when their regular caregiver returns to work.
This depends on how many hours of care are required on a weekly basis. For clients receiving care for one to three times a week, one caregiver is usually assigned. For clients receiving care from five to seven days per week, two caregivers will generally be assigned. If the client receives twenty-four hour care, the case will be staffed with as few caregivers as possible and still allow us to have a pool of “known” caregivers to draw from in the event a regular scheduled caregiver needs a substitute.
We always make every effort to provide consistency of caregivers for our clients. Since our care is provided within a relationship of trust, it can be distressing for a client to have an unknown caregiver when intimate personal care is needed. For this reason we try to have enough caregivers on board on any given case so staff that is familiar to the client can cover for other staff.
Never. You will always receive a professional, detailed invoice for each visit, complete with date of care and hours of care provided. If a caregiver does any shopping for you, reimbursement is carefully documented.
Yes, there is a contract of service. The contract is basic and identifies how Aberdeen assigns caregivers, how we bill, what the hourly rate of your service is and other routine operations information.
